چکیده

Vapor-liquid equilibrium relationships are important properties for practical use, such as in the design and operation of distillation equipment. In general, vapor-liquid equilibrium relations are determined experimentally, and it is a custom to test the thermodynamic consistency of the equilibrium data. Investigators1^4-15'17'19~22-24) have proposed various methods for testing thermodynamic consistency of vapor-liquid equilibrium data. However, most of the methods are used for binary vapor-liquid equilibrium data and not for ternary data. These methods could be classified into two major groups, area consistency test and point consistency test. For ternary vapor-liquid equilibrium data, several methods of area consistency test were proposed by Broughton1), Herington3), Hirose4), Yamada24) and others. Susarev et al.20) proposed a typical method of point consistency test of ternary vapor-liquid equilibrium data. In the present paper, a new method had been proposed to test the thermodynamic consistency of ternary vapor-liquid equilibrium data. This method makes it possible to check quantitatively the thermodynamic consistency of each data point for ternary systems.

Investigation of Thermodynamic Consistency Test of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) in Room-Temperature Ionic liquids using Generic van der Waals Equation of State

Thermodynamic consistency test of isothermal vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data of various binary systems containing Carbon dioxide (CO2)/Room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) have been investigated in wide ranges of pressures in each isotherm precisely. In this paper Generic van der Waals (GvdW) equation of state (EoS) coupled with modified van der Waals Berthelot mixing rule has ...

Liquid-Liquid Equilibrium for the Ternary Systems of Solvent+ m/o/p-Cresol+Water: Thermodynamic Modeling

In this study, NRTL and UNIQUAC thermodynamic models were used to predict the composition of ternary mixtures of solvents+ m/o/p-cresol+ water in organic and aqueous phases. Various solvents are used for the separation of cresols from water. In this study, methyl propyl ketone, methyl isopropyl ketone, methyl butyl ketone, and methyl isobutyl ketone solvents were investigated. Intermolecular in...

Modeling of liquid–liquid equilibria of aqueous alcohol + salt systems using amodified NRTL

The modified NRTL (m-NRTL) model is used to represent the excess Gibbs free energy of aqueous (alcohol + electrolyte) solutions. In this work, the m-NRTL model previously developed for representation of vapor-liquid equilibria for (polymer + salt + water) systems has been extended to represent liquid-liquid equilibria of (alcohol + salt + water) systems. The proposed extension is a modified of ...

Application of a Thermodynamic Consistency Test to Binary Mixtures Containing an Ionic Liquid

Abstract: A thermodynamic consistency test developed for high pressure binary vapor-liquid mixtures is applied to mixtures containing a supercritical solvent and an ionic liquid. Several authors have reported vapor-liquid equilibrium data on the binary systems supercritical CO2 + 1-butyl-3-methyl imidazolium hexafluorophosphate {[bmim][PF6]}, supercritical CO2 + 1-butyl-3-methyl imidazolium nit...

Simple Functions for Predicting Thermodynamic Properties of Ammonia-Water Mixture (RESEARCH NOTE)

The engineering calculation and simulation of absorption refrigeration systems require the availability of simple and efficient functions for the determination of thermodynamic property values of the operating fluid. This work presents a set of five simple and explicit functions for the determination of the vapor - liquid equilibrium properties of the ammonia-water mixture. The functions are co...
